[Service] Monthly care
Monthly website care & maintenance.
A website is not a one-off purchase — it needs hosting, updates and an eye kept on it. Monthly care plans keep yours secure, current and performing without taking up your time, so you can get on with running the business.
What's covered
One monthly fee covers the maintenance that keeps a site healthy — the things that quietly go wrong when nobody's watching.
What each part actually means
"Maintenance" covers a lot of ground and most plans don't say what's in it. Here's what each line means in practice.
Managed hosting and domain
The site's hosting and domain sit in one place, managed for you. That means one supplier to deal with when something needs attention, rather than a hosting company, a domain registrar and whoever built the site all pointing at each other. Renewals don't lapse because nobody remembered whose card was on file.
Security, SSL and backups
The SSL certificate — the padlock in the address bar — stays valid and renewed, so browsers never warn visitors away from your site. Backups run so there is always a version to go back to, which is the difference between a bad afternoon and a lost website.
Updates and small changes
A new price, a new photo, a changed opening time, a paragraph of copy — these are handled as part of the plan rather than billed by the hour. It means the site stays current instead of slowly drifting out of date because every small edit felt like it wasn't worth the invoice. Larger pieces of work are quoted up front, the same fixed-price way as a build.
Uptime checks and priority support
The site is monitored so a problem is noticed without you having to spot it first. When you do need something, you're contacting the person who works on the site — not a ticket queue and not an account manager relaying the message on.
Who it's for
Care plans suit any business that depends on its website but doesn't want to think about the plumbing — whether Dower Digital built the site or not. Existing sites can be taken on after a short review of how they're hosted and built.
It suits businesses without an in-house technical person most of all. If nobody in the building knows where the site is hosted, who renews the domain, or what happens if it goes down on a Saturday, that isn't unusual — but it is a risk sitting quietly in the background. A plan turns that into a known monthly cost and someone specific to call.
It's also the cheapest way to protect a build you've already paid for. A site left untouched for two years doesn't stay as it launched: certificates lapse, content goes stale, and the gap between what the business does now and what the website says grows until the whole thing needs replacing. Maintaining it costs considerably less than rebuilding it.
Common questions
01Do you have to have built my site?
No. Care plans can be taken on for an existing site after a short review of how it is built and hosted. If the site itself is the thing holding the business back, that gets said at the review stage rather than after months of paying a retainer on it.
02Is hosting included, or do I pay for that separately?
Included. Managed hosting and domain are part of the plan, along with SSL, security and backups — one place to go when something needs attention, rather than three separate suppliers and three separate bills.
03What counts as a "small change"?
The everyday edits a live site needs: updating a price, swapping a photo, changing opening hours, adding or rewording a paragraph. These are covered by the plan and not billed by the hour. Anything substantial — a new section, a new template, a booking system — is quoted up front as a fixed price before work starts.
04Is a care plan the same as SEO?
No, and they're deliberately separate. A care plan keeps the site secure, current and running. A managed SEO retainer is active work on search visibility — keyword and competitor strategy, on-page and technical SEO, content and monthly reporting. Plenty of businesses take a care plan on its own; the two can be combined when you want both.
05Am I tied into a long contract?
Plans run monthly. What you're told at the start is what you pay, and the terms are agreed before anything begins — the same fixed-price principle as a build, with no hourly billing behind it.
Pricing
Care plans start from £100 per month. When you want ongoing search growth on top of maintenance, add a managed SEO retainer — or start with a new website build if you don't have a site worth maintaining yet. Businesses in and around the studio's home town can also read the Stevenage page.
